Since 1998, KPIA has served as a network for professional investigators and agencies throughout the State of Kentucky. Our commitment to professional conduct, ethics and education is the foundation of our organization.
Every licensed or certified professional investigator is invited to join us. Our members are mostly comprised of licensed private investigators but also include professionals in related fields such as police investigators, fire investigators, accident reconstruction investigators, paralegals, non-licensed investigators that work for corporations and law firms.
Any individual, licensed by the State of Kentucky, or complying with the laws of the State of Kentucky with respect to the profession of investigation, and being engaged in the business or profession of investigating, shall be eligible for membership in this association.
The focus of Kentucky Professional Investigators Association KPIA is to promote and maintain the highest ethical practices in the professional investigator industry; to perpetuate a spirit of cooperation among its members and the general public; to advance the profession with ongoing educational opportunities; and to articulate and advocate the needs, interests and benefits of the profession before the legislative branches of local, state and federal government.
Our professional investigators specialize in an array of service offerings, including but not limited to: physical security, surveillance, fraud investigations, arson investigations, accident reconstruction, corporate investigations, litigation support, cyber security and digital forensics, domestic investigations, risk assessments, background checks, financial forensics, and expert testimony. Additionally, many of our investigators and members maintain highly-esteemed credentials, such as certified arson investigators, fire investigators, legal investigators, and fraud examiners, and others, as well as credentials reserved for retired local, state, and federal law enforcement officials.
The KPIA holds a seat on the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Private Investigators (the licensing regulatory board) and works with them to insure protection of the consumers (public or corporate) and to maintain the highest standards of our industry. We are assisting in upgrading the current licensing law, and encourage every licensed investigator to participate by joining today. Let your voice be heard, and be a part of your professional peer group
A main benefit of becoming a member of the association is for your voice to be heard in your industry. We are an integral part of how the lawmakers of Kentucky look at the industry and we sit on the Kentucky private investigator licensing board and give context and information. We need you to add value to what we represent.
Another benefit is to be part of a network of great people who combined have years of experience and know-how. Why reinvent the wheel when you can pick up the phone and call another member for advice, information, and ideas. Become a member today and be in our online Member Directory.
We are working on building up partnerships with other state associations as well as service industry professionals to provide discounts to our members such as investigator insurance, information data brokers, industry magazines, and other options for continued education.
Continued education training classes that meet the 12 hour continued education requirements is required by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Private Investigators. Our annual conference has several classes to choose from to meet those requirements. These certificates of training are also accepted in some other states and bring value to your skill level.
We strive to stay in communication with our membership. Have a question about our association or want to see if we match your specific needs? Send us a message or give us a call. We're always happy to talk with you.
